HIP HOP PHOTOGRAPHER BEATEN BY TORONTO POLICE; FIGHTING TO HAVE CHARGES DROPPED

TORONTO, CANADA...October 16, 2006, at approximately 1:40 pm after checking out of the Econolodge Hotel (335 Jarvis Street) and while in the process of hailing a taxi, Black Americans Tonye Allen and his fiancee, Ann Brown, were assaulted by several Downtown Toronto policemen from the 51st division. Mr. Allen, who did not resist, was beaten and pepper sprayed several times while handcuffed and in police custody. Ms. Brown was choked, shoved, and threatened with arrest as well.

Mr. Allen was never told why he was being detained. The arresting police refused to tell Ms. Brown where they were taking Mr. Allen. After locating the correct police station, Ms. Brown spoke with a "Det. Moyer," who said he "hadn't decided" what he was going to charge Mr. Allen with. Ultimately, Mr. Allen was charged with assault of two policemen and resisting arrest, times two.

In bail court, Mr. Allen and Ms. Brown were called "terrorists." After Ms. Brown posted cash bail of $1,000, Mr. Allen's passport was taken by "Det. Moyer."

Mr. Allen was unarmed. He had never been arrested. He had no criminal history. He has no history of drug/alcohol abuse or psychiatric problems.

Mr. Allen and Ms. Brown are seeking publicity and legal references to help fight these false charges.

Mr. Allen is a photojournalist who works professionally under the name "TRILOBITE." His work has appeared in: Essence, Vibe, The Village Voice, Rolling Stone, LA Weekly , and The Source Magazine. He has worked for Sony Music, PolyGram Records, Def Jam Records, and Interscope Records, among others.

Ms. Brown is a freelance writer whose work has appeared in Essence, Black Enterprise, Upscale Magazine, The Source , and various other publications.

Mr. Allen and Ms. Brown were in Toronto on their way to South Africa.

Mr. Allen sustained the following injuries:

Head abrasions and bruises
Ear abrasions and bruises
Possible concussion
Right eye: deep cut on eyelid
Black left/right eyes
Damaged left eye, loss of sight (previous 20-20+ vision)
Left ear loss of hearing
Lip bruised
Dislocated jaw
Abrasions/bruises on right cheek
Right and left shoulders contusions and bruises
Left wrist: deep cuts, ligature marks, nerve damage
Right wrist: cuts, ligature marks, nerve damage
Left and right hands: abrasions, nerve damage
Right ring finger dislocated
Bruised ribs
Abrasions on torso
Bruised thoracic vertebrae
Left and right knees: abrasions and bruises

Responsibility Is Killing Me

Many People blame "it" on individual tasks, obligations, and problems-paying bills, mowing the lawn, standing in line for hours at the DMV, work deadlines, crashed hard drives, grocery store trips, speeding tickets, etcetera. What People are failing to realize here is an underlying yet overbearing theme: responsibility. Oh, have I mentioned that "it" is your life going to hell in a hand-basket?

No one is completely exempt from this. Anyone who's even remotely capable of getting themselves dressed, making their own meals, holding down a job, and being in a relationship is responsible. It's hard to be completely irresponsible. If we were, nothing would ever get done, civilization and society would grind to an archaic standstill, and as a species of animals, we humans probably wouldn't have even made it this long on the evolutionary timeline. But (and it's a big but) where the problem lies is the murky gray line that separates common-day responsibilities from the life sucking, debilitating ones. I am talking about those responsibilities that at their core are designed to strip you of your very personality. What you also might not know is that you have been the one busy designing your own destruction. I know it's hard to grapple with, but let me explain.

Every new monthly bill you took on, every relationship you held together, every time you got promoted at work, every time you said "yes" or "i've got it," every single moment you spent deciding to do something over nothing (or the wrong thing), you took another step toward a full head of grey hair. You're okay with gray hair? How about loosing your hair? Or maybe you prefer ulcers, backaches, a bad complexion, dark recessed eyes, insomnia, or headaches? I think science has even proven that stress can take years off your life expectancy. Am I freaking you out? Okay. Well, here's the good part.

What are we saving "life" for, anyway? As far as I can tell, we've only got one life to live. If I'm busy NOT checking tasks off lists, NOT bitting off things bigger than i can chew, NOT spending money I don't have, NOT staying up late to do one more thing, then what is it that I AM doing?

What am I saving up for? Why not spend all the personality I can spare? Why not say,"yes" to as many new challenges I can possibly count? I'm not saying I'm going to drink myself into oblivion, rob a store, and drive off a cliff 'cause hey, who the fuck cares? But instead, it's up to each of us to make our lives unique and full of experiences. Responsibility and our ability to choose are the catalysts of a full life. If we are constantly passing on new responsibilities, sure ... we might be able to sleep easier knowing tomorrow is going to be a breeze. But why not sign yourself up for one more thing? It might just be amazing. Hell, it might be your last experience. I'm not sure about you, but I'll sleep when I'm dead.

It's clear that life was in fact designed to destroy itself. You might as well do yourself a favor and make as big a life as you possibly can. It might be your only chance.

Lee "Scratch" Perry (born Rainford Hugh Perry, on March 20, 1936, in Kendal, Jamaica) is a grammy award-winning reggae and dub artist, who has been highly influential in the development and acceptance ofreggae and dub music in Jamaica and overseas. He employs numerous pseudonyms, such as "Pipecock Jaxxon" and "The Upsetter".

Man is this guy's music amazing, and since I'm so young I am only getting into it now at 17 and ironically if you switch those numbers around and you get 71, Lee Perry's age as of today. I remember first hearing the song "Blackboard Jungle Dub" in the Emerica "this is skateboarding" video back in the day and downloading the song, but still not taking the time to fully get into Perry's amazing style of music. And If I may Mention great part too, Tosh Townend in "this is skateboarding", so for all you skaters who read this blog, check it out!

Anyways I had to put this up, cause it's such a great record, so chilling and laid back to listen to. I highly suggest checking out Lee Perry's music out and his other works with other artists, and what shocked me is another one of my favourites Andrew W.K. has worked and done some recordings with Lee Perry? Fight Paris

Four years ago, a group of friends began playing music together with a passion and a dream, and thus Fight Paris was born. Comprised, from the start, with a core of Jason Krutzky (drums), Kevin Phillips (vocals), and Neil Warren (guitar), Fight Paris went through several changes before finalizing the line-up with Matt Tanner (guitar) and Champ Champagne (bass) in the summer of 2003.

Fight Paris strictly adheres to a "party hard, work harder" philosphy. They record all their own music, create and distribute their own merchandise, and have even shot their own music video. With plans intact for extensive touring starting in 2005, Fight Paris is poised to take over the world.

See Fight Paris on tour with Dead To Fall & Twelve Tribes this spring, and this summer on the Strhess Tour with Bleeding Through, Darkest Hour, Zao, and Misery Signals. Then in August/September on tour with Open Hand on the "Ryan Dunn & Don Vito Rock Tour" all over the US.

Not that I necessarily give a shit for this type of music or band anymore, but I really had to post this for those hardcore/emo kids who listen to the worst music ever, and think it's the clothes when it's the music. Anyways in this case it's the music, Fight Paris are fucking amazing, a somewhat Cancer Bat's tone but better since they came around first, southern rock/hardcore and it's good too, not a little but a huge kick to it when you listen to it, I mainly save some of it to skateboard to and what not.

Yo money! You ever feelin' a little bummed or blue for who knows what and whatever else is up. Well, I have this here to set things not right, but a touch or hit better. Thom Yorke: The Eraser Remixes

XL Recordings released three separate 12" vinyl records remixes of tracks from The Eraser in early 2008. These remixes, are pretty sweet. It's funny too because I have had them for so long but I have not had time to listen to them, as whack as that sounds but with 6838 songs I'd imagine it would be difficult to listen to everything in your i tunes, and if you continue to get more and more music. So here I am tossing you something good, so maybe do me the favor by checking out Thom Yorke's work with Radiohead which I presume that most of you know? If not even the original "The Eraser" record is great.

Last and not least which none of you fucking care about, on the original album over, a linocut by Stanley Donwood, depicts a figure in a black hat and trench coat standing in imitation of King Canute, trying and failing to command the ocean. Around him are iconic London buildings that have been swept away by the Thames, including the Tower of London, the House of Parliament and the Thames Barrier. Donwood included this picture and other images seen in The Eraser booklet in his art exhibition London Views, prior to the album's release. The images were inspired by a large flood Donwood and Yorke both witnessed in Cornwall in 2004. The CD packaging of The Eraser is unusual for a high profile release in that it is made of carboard but unlike a digipak, it does not contain any plastic. However, Yorke said in an interview that he did not have his CDs certified as carbon neutral, agreeing with British environmentalist George Monbiot's assertion that the practice is pointless.

RATATAT Remixes Mixtape Volume 1

Ratatat Mixtape Vol. 1, Released in 2004, was the second album released by the Brooklyn indie electronic rock duo Ratatat. Ratatat Mixtape Vol. 1 was a self-released remix album of hip-hop artists including Missy Elliott, Dizzee Rascal, Raekwon and Ghostface. Guitarist Mike Stroud, in an interview with Glide Magazine, acknowledged both the marked departure from their instrumental first album Ratatat and perceived dichotomous nature of their sound by saying “Especially with remixes, we approach it a bit differently than our other music. It’s something we originally did for fun, that’s now part of what we are.”

They seem to have a lot of hype too, I really enjoyed both volume 1 & 2 which if you haven't heard I highly suggest buying or downloading it. Anyways since I am such a sweet heart, I uploaded Volume 1 Remixes. Enjoy!

...Not only does this strangely exactly relate to me, but the possible blind spots and weakness are what I myself have been thinking about in how I act and in what I say and do. Here is a little piece of advice an amazing teacher once told me, "Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it" (as in How I react to what happens to me). Good advice, maybe I shoud embrace that rather then sharing and spreading it to everyone, cause sometimes I don't think before I react.

No more anorexic, chain-smoking, bulimic models please

NEW YORK — The American fashion industry says it wants its models to be healthy, not anorexic, not bulimic and not chain-smokers. And to help models achieve that, the Council of
Fashion Designers of America on Friday released a list of recommendations as part of a new health initiative.

The panel that formulated the guidelines included CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg, nutritionist Joy Bauer, modeling agent Louis Chaban, fitness trainer David Kirsch and Dr. Susan Ice, vice president and medical director of Philadelphia's Renfrew Center, which is dedicated to eating disorders.

The guidelines were issued three weeks before designers start showcasing their fall collections during New York's Fashion Week, which starts Feb. 2.

The guidelines are only suggestions and not binding for the industry

They include:

-- Keep models under 16 off the runway and don't allow models under 18 to work at fittings or photo shoots past midnight.
-- Educate those in the industry to identify the early warning signs of eating disorders.
-- Require models identified as having an eating disorder to receive professional help and only allow those models to continue with approval from that professional.
-- Develop workshops on the causes and effects of eating disorders, and raise awareness of the effects of smoking and tobacco-related disease.
-- During fashion shows, provide healthy meals and snacks, while prohibiting smoking and alcohol.

What's missing?

Aside from a means of enforcement, what's missing from these voluntary guidleines is any mention of the Body Mass Index. In September, Madrid Fashion Week banned models with a body mass index of less than 18. The standard accepted by the World Health Organization is that anyone with an index under 18.5 is underweight.

Italian government officials also got involved in this too-skinny model debate, apparently prompted in part by Spain's move and by the death in November of Brazilian model Ana Carolina Reston, who weighted 88 pounds when she died. In a December deal with the Italian fashion industry, designers agreed not to hire models younger than 16, and to require all models to
submit medical proof that they do not suffer from eating disorders.

"The CFDA Health Initiative is about awareness and education, not policing. Therefore, the committee is not recommending that models get a doctor's physical examination to assess their health or body-mass index to be permitted to work," according to a statement from the CFDA. "Eating disorders are emotional disorders that have psychological, behavioral, social, and physical manifestations, of which body weight is only one."

Steven Kolb, executive director for the CFDA, told The Associated Press that the
designers' understanding of the issue as explained to them by health specialists is that BMI is only one factor in a long list of criteria to identify eating disorders.

"A lot of the girls who work the runway are genetically thin. You go backstage and you see a lot of girls eating a lot of food and they're not gaining weight," Kolb said.

Kolb, however, anticipated the question about voluntary guidelines being a strong enough statement to turn around the trend of too-thin models.

"As an industry, fashion has always been concerned about health. Here at the CFDA, we've been in the forefront in terms of efforts (like) Fashion Targets Breast Cancer and HIV/AIDS awareness," he said. "As the issue of underweight models became global, we, as a group, outside of what other countries have done, decided to do something. I actually think it was a really responsible move."

But Dr. Cynthia Bulik, a professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a former president of the Academy of Eating Disorders, said she'd like to see the fashion industry adopt stricter standards in an effort to protect two populations: the models and all the young girls who look up to them.

"I've asked patients about what they see when they see models. They say, "I look at their skinny arms, their hip bones and their flat stomachs and then I look at myself and say I'm too fat,"' Bulik says. "It zeros in on their self-esteem and their perceived inadequacies, and these are girls who are already underweight.''

Models used to be curvaceous

Michael Vollbracht, the creative director at Bill Blass, which will stage its next runway show Feb. 6, agrees that the industry has an obligation to showcase apparel models who are also role models. But he also expects it will take time for industry eyes to adjust to a less-thin thin model.

"Thin is always in, it's how you show clothes," Vollbracht said. But then those size 0
styles are plucked by stylists for Hollywood actresses who then feel fat -- and then diet -- when they can't fit into the tiny garments, and there are so many girls and women who then look up to the stars. It's a perpetual cycle, he said.

Vollbracht pointed out that in the 1980s and early '90s, top models Claudia Schiffer and Cindy Crawford had more curvaceous figures. "Heroin chic changed a lot of things," he said. "It'll take some time to change back."

The Illinois-based Academy of Eating Disorders offered its own counter-suggestions to the CFDA, using a minimum BMI of 18.5 for models over 18. That would translate into a 5-foot-9 female model weighing more than 126 pounds. An alternative formula for models between the ages of 16 and 18 would call for a 5-foot-9 teen girl to weight more than 117 pounds.

"I'm really comfortable having the WHO guidelines out there. A BMI below 18.5 is
underweight. It's not the Academy of Eating Disorders is pulling this out of the air.
Otherwise we're setting a standard of beauty that is officially underweight," Bulik said.

Ed Banger Records is a French electronic music record label run by Pedro Winter. It was founded in 2002 as a division of Headbangers Entertainment. The label is home to French electro acts Justice, SebastiAn, Uffie, Krazy Baldhead, DJ Mehdi, Mr Oizo, Mr Flash, Vicarious Bliss, So Me, Feadz and Winter himself, under the alias Busy P. The Carps

The Carps are from Scarborough, a pretend hood in Toronto. They are a duo that plays music for human ears. Having two people in a band can be a liberating thing, as it has been seen. Such a shame they are so young - had they come around any earlier they could've taken credit for more than a few novel ideas. With the EP the Young & Passionate Days of Carpedia, the two ragamuffin soul rockers deliver the promise to set themselves far apart from elephants, swirly red and white candy, beards, brothers and sisters, and Phil Collins. The Carps stand alone. They sound like nothing you could imagine, and everything you'd like to.

The Carps thrive on ingenuity and vicissitude. Newness always! Therefore the captain of the ship, Neil White, wielding his disheveled bass and a wonky synthesizer, steers this raw emotion into a palatable and progressive direction. All this while never leaving his "mindless self-indulgent" duct tape Punk Rock days far behind him. Perhaps the jungles of Sri Lanka still run through his veins, though he could never lose the class and distinction that only he, as a real British bloke, could carry.

Jahmal Tonge is the soul junkie. Growing up on asexual legends like Michael Jackson and Prince, it was sifting through his father's record collection that exposed to him to Motown, Stax, Soul music! These are the sounds that are at the heart of The Carps. From behind his drum kit, or with his guitar strapped and his MPC drum machine at his side, Jahmal soulfully screams his soulful, soul-catching, soul-baring soul in a raw way... It's the only way he knows. It was Bold, Black, Christian women that led him that direction. Discernibly, the sight and sounds of the Caribbean still stick. Hearing the tropical wind blow through an open church tent as a woman cries out to God, tearing her vocal cords from the deepest part of her being, will change a temerarious young boy.

They've been on tour for a while now all over Europe and the U.K. and man, when I heard/found out today that The Carps are coming back to town I thought, "yeah boii!! back again!". Every time, I've gone out either with Neil, or to his shows it's always something new and nuts going on, wether it's sneaking into a club, or Neil falling to the floor during the "Compton To Scarboro" performance. Either way, it's always a fun time, eating sushi, drinking beers, scouting out for hunnies or whatever it may be. But it's not always fun and games, aside from the laughs and jokes you have to have show your appreciation to The Carps for there dedication to making something that isn't a garbagey media piece of crap, time and effort has been spent and even while your on the dance floor shaking it, there's always a message. There newest and latest single titled "Veronica Belmont" is up on there myspace for y'all to check out (www.myspace.com/thecarps) and dropping April 8th is there new E.P "Waves And Shambles", which I'm stoked, and looking forward to hearing. Coming out of "snowy Toronto" I'm putting my hands down and giving it up for The Carps and there success and what's to come.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

I was bored the other night passed and thinking of a film to download or buy whatever haha (download) so my friend Lauren recommended Ferris Bueller's Day Off which I hadn't seen in quite a while, so I downloaded it and watched it and I immediately loved it again, remembering every bit from when I first watched it, so thanks Lauren! I think most of my favourite scene's in this movie were when they were in the city (New York) and when they are driving in the Ferrari. Here is a youtube video I found a collective of the Ferrari scenes. I really enjoyed the whole soundtrack for this movie, unfortunatly I am still looking for many of the songs, such as when Cameron (Alan Ruck) is sick and bed, and near the first scene where Ferris (Matthew Broderick) gets up and said "they bought it!"

Anyways one of the presents or early presents I received for my birthday was Rushmore an amazing film about a boy; Max Fisher (Jason Schwartzman), who is fifteen years old and goes to a private school and falls in love with a teacher, at the school who teachers a kindergarden class, Billy Murray is in it and Olivia Williams. Do ya'll remember the Public Enemy album It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back ...no? well that's to bad, because it has a track called "She Watch Channel Zero!?" an amazing track, aside from the whole album itself. But anyways, the riff was taken and sampled from Slayer! City And Colour "Bring Me Your Love"

City And Colour's "Bring Me Your Love" hits shelves all across North America, today February 12th, the highly anticipated album is amazing, as you all know who have just today purchased or downloaded. I had the full album weeks before today but I still had to go out and buy it, just because this is probably one of the most well deserved albums of today, unlike most garbage and crap (considering new music, I mean). There is a very Neil Young/Bob Dylan feel to the album, very classic and seems to take you with lyrics that swallow you, one of my personal favourites "The Death Of Me". Great work Dallas, hope every else gives a chance to the new album and your stuff to come, for it is remarkable.

I tried finding something else that is new aside from the new single/music video for "Waiting..." which you all have probably seen, so here is another one of my favourite songs on the album live, titled "Confessions".

One of my favourite movies right now, is Night On Earth (1991) directed and written by Jim Jarmusch. Five cities. Five taxicabs. A multitude of strangers in the night. Jim Jarmusch assembled an extraordinary international cast of actors (including Gena Rowlands, Winona Ryder, Armin Mueller-Stahl, Beatrice Dalle, and Roberto Benigni) for his hilarious quintet of tales of urban displacement and existential angst, spanning time zones, continents, and languages. Jarmusch's lovingly askew view of humanity from the passenger seat makes for one of his most charming and beloved films.

Man do I ever loft on putting up good news sometimes. Well today is, nothing special either for I have been wasting time recording music and such and figuring out more about sampling music and djing which I have always admire and shared some what of an interest in, so now I think or within the next month or so I will be releasing songs, maybe some tracks that are like me spinning if not friends, but an electro genre type e.p (7 tracks) by mid February.

My birthday is coming up, all my friends should know. And well, I am going to be really busy this month getting my job, skating shooting photos. So I am going to try my best to hit hard with good news and more posts, seriously. I am talking like more video's of better junk and such, up the playlists with like 30 tracks, and more sources for other media photography included.

Anyways, I'm back to working on some songs I am putting together, but maybe expect a playlist late tonight.

A while back my older brother Rod wrote an article on the Canadian music scene in Montreal for Spin Magazine, that I'd love to share with everyone, to read. Here It is, and along with it I'll be making soon'r tonight a playlist of the bands spoken of in this article. Several douchebags ragged on the written article for lack of exposuer to actually Montreal bands and such you can read about online if you search for the article. Ask any music hipster in America — Montreal is officially cool. Now, if only Montrealers would agree.

The American music media are proclaiming Montreal the new musical hotspot. Spin magazine sparked the hype when it published its February “Next Big Thing” issue, and The New York Times and Rolling Stone magazine are just a couple in a long list of other publications perpetuating it through their coverage of bands like The Arcade Fire, The Stars and The Dears. But surprisingly, Montrealers aren’t uniformly embracing the attention. The response has been widely mixed, from apathy to outrage.

The musicians have been the ones typically feeling the apathy. They appreciate the recognition, but to them, it’s only a distraction from the music they love.

“Their reaction is typically Canadian. It’s polite,” quipped Jamie O’Meara, editor in chief of Montreal’s Hour magazine. “It’s like, ‘Thank you for noticing. And we’ll be on our way.’”

O’Meara said Montrealers don’t see the same “scene” that Americans think exists in their city. There’s no specific sound, style or fashion characterizing Montreal’s musical environment. Plus, it’s not as easy to find those hyped bands playing gigs in Montreal as many might believe.

“Anybody who came here looking to find this alleged scene is going to be sorely disappointed,” O’Meara said. “You could conceivably live up here for four months and not come across a single one of those bands.”

Montrealers are also miffed about being labeled “hot” in American publications. That moniker makes the city’s musicians appear to be part of a trend that will blow in and burn out. The current Montreal indie music scene (if it can accurately be labeled that) has been growing for at least the past 10-15 years and is rooted in a rich history of Quebecois music. It’s unlikely to be another flavor of the month.

“There’s always been a fantastic indie scene up here for years and years and years,” O’Meara said. “It doesn’t give it any more legitimacy just because someone is taking note of it.”

Fad or not, these bands are doing more than just crossing a political border; they’re also crossing financial borders. Arcade Fire, for example, is considered by music fans and industry executives to have the most growth potential. They’ve recently been listed on the cover of Rolling Stone, along with many other magazines. That kind of exposure typically assures increased record sales, and although they’ve only sold about 130,000 copies of their album “Funeral,” according to SoundScan’s April 13 report, that number will rise. It will take time before the impact of the media attention can be measured, but the exposure that Arcade Fire and many other bands are receiving will likely expand their audiences and alleviate some of the financial pressures these indie rock bands typically confront.

And though these bands are being recognized now and playing bigger shows, it doesn’t mean they’re basking in the glow of celebrity fame.

“Musicians, especially underground and indie artists, are really suspicious of the whole American cult of celebrity,” O’Meara said about the Canadian bands showcased in Spin. “That’s why there’s almost a bit of a coy or cold response. They are not going to let it go to their heads.”

However, many are on the other end of the spectrum, and they’re furious about the increased attention. To them, getting covered in major American publications like Spin leads to the assassination of a musicians’ street cred.

Local rocker and frontman for Bionic, Jonathan Cummins is one of those furious Montrealers. He denounced the coverage in a caustic column he wrote in The Montreal Mirror, another local weekly.

“Once Spin says you’re cool, it’s obviously s—t.”

Cummins’ primary supporters are the music fans. Many of them have flocked to Web sites, blogs and online chat forums to flare at Spin and the industry it represents. They have declared a sort of cultural warfare against the American music industry, fearing that the increased American attention brings the possible destruction of the city’s unique, artistic environment.

Many fans are afraid that Montreal could be mined for talent and left in shambles, like Seattle was after the 1990s grunge wave. One fearful posting read:

“Unlike Seattle, Montreal is an island where we can only hope to remain inaccessible and cut off from the mainland of Britney Spearsization. Montreal thrives in the music scene by doing what it does best — being different.”

Although most attacks are directed at Spin magazine or the American music industry as a whole, a significant number are directed at the author of the Spin article, Rodrigo Perez.

“The feedback from Canadians is lukewarm at best,” Perez said in interview. “No one likes to be called a scene, even when it is. Do you think Seattle liked it when New York told them, ‘Hey you’re cool. We’re validating your existence.’ Of course, someone is going to say f—k you!”

And the raised middle finger is pretty much what Perez has been receiving from Montreal music fans, even if American response has been almost monolithically positive.

Perez says he wrote the article because he’s a fan of the music being produced in the city, and he wants to perk up some American ears to the great sound coming from the North.

In the end, it doesn’t really matter if that sound is hot, cool or hip. The most important thing is that it’s going to get much bigger and more people are going to listen to it.

Canadian musician Dallas Green, as you may all know from Alexisonfire (guitar, vocals) has just finished and has released the latest single "Waiting" off his new album "Bring Me Your Love" dropping February 12th. Anyways if don't already know Green's solo career in City And Colour has been a very great success and kudos to him, and aside from that it just seems that to me at least all his work is solid and just hits strong with all his music, but then again, what else do you except from such a solid dude? I'm not "nut riding" either but Dally is real good at skating and by skating I mean skateboarding which I do hold in common with him. Anyways here's the new video, enjoy it and check out more and other work of Green.

Spike Jonze For Your Brain

I don't know or care if you know who Spike Jonze is, but. He was a senior photography for Transworld Skateboarding (magazine), in his past he has directed and shot skateboarding videos such as most notably Blind Skateboard company's Video Days in 1991 and in 1996 Girl Skateboards film Mouse. He also co-directed the Girl Skateboards film Yeah Right! and the Chocolate Skateboards video Hot Chocolate. In the closing credits montage of Yeah Right! Spike is shown doing a nollie heelflip in loafers.

Anyways back to my point or whatever, one of Spike Jonze's recent films he has finished is Lakai Fully Flared. Fully Flared is a skateboarding film by Lakai Footwear directed by Ty Evans, Spike Jonze and Cory Weincheque. The video's release got posponed for about two years, mainly due to important team additions, and overall it took four whole years to make it. Here is a segment from the film, one of my favourites ironically it is just the intro but whatever, I enjoyed the whole film, make sure you check this out.

I just finished watching Super Bad for the second time, and oh wow, is it a great film. The scene's seem to be quite memorable and stick, for there fucking hillarious. One of my favourite songs "Walk On The Wild Side" and some of my favourite rappers, A Tribe Called Quest. The Lou Reed guitar sample as heard in "Can I Kick It" was and done by Lou Reed. A Tribe Called Quest, saw what they could do with it, and made a "down in the books" song in hip hop and hip hop culture.

You are more then amazing to me, I can't really describe you at all. You are fascinating, and always seem to surprise me whether it be something said or a noise made! You mean a lot to me, and I want you to know that I would never think any less of you for any reason or for anything. I love everything about you, you are hilarious, smart, unique, caring, and beautiful and you so share so many of the similar things with me that i like and do. You dance! which is amazing, and I appreciate more then enough, because it's amazing, and I know how you feel because I feel the same for skateboarding. I could go on and on, but what mainly matters is that I love you and that I will always be there for you when you need me.

An Entry To Her Life

Those words disturb and irritate people when it comes to dance, but to me it's pure music to my ears. It seems like my life is finally coming together. Why now? A phone call on December 4Th, 2007 at 9:30pm is what made me cry the hardest. It was my mom listing my dance schedule, it had been two years without dance. Two terrifying years. I thanked my parents a week straight after that, each time a respond of a nod or smile. I'm truly used to society not understanding my true passion for dance, especially my dad. He really just doesn't understand.

To me, dancing is the strongest pair of ear plugs. After all the anger built up inside in me about my dad cheating, lying and running away, when i dance it's all out of my mind. Each year i realize more and more that it really doesn't matter what kind of dad i have, or where i live, lack of money as long as i am performing on that stage, my life is truly complete.

For the past week or so, I've met someone who understands my love for dance. I came to conclusion quickly that i care greatly about this someone, and I'm beginning to have feelings for this person. If you're reading this now, know that i like you a lot and i understand and support anything you do.

Everything is coming together in my life right now. I'm extremely happy at this point. When it comes to meeting new people, going to a new school, or starting up dance again i feel great. Though my father will never change, my dancing will stop.

The replacement, to your story.

Over the last couple days I have felt a great sense of enormous well being, spending time talking to you and such. I have already developed feelings towards you and know that I like and care about you. Your a great person, and whether I mention your name or not, I hope you know this is for you.

I skateboard every single day. I have a huge passion for skateboarding. No one, not my family or even my friends truly understand the love I have for it, but like they'll never really get it. You could say it's a phase, and that when I am older I will grow out of it, but that's wrong skateboarding is so much more then just a phase, it is something I have done day in day out, I don't care about the magazines, or the videos or anything like that anymore. It's just all about me and what I get out of it, and my self progression on a skateboard and how I express myself in skateboarding, with my own/personal style and tricks and such. I can't even write about skateboarding. I could be having a horrible day, and since a little boy pushing on a skateboard has been the solution the "feel good" for everything. I can't really explain how it started, cause I never looked up to anyone when I started nor did I care to. It's like, you're parents are fighting, your girlfriend dumped you, your friends are mad at you and pretend the second you step on this skateboard everything is gone, no one around you is yelling no one around you is anything nor matters.

The Skateboard Life

Take a look at the average pro career.
Pretty short, isn't it? And not only is it short but it's a safe bet that it follows the lines of the old bell curve. Up. And down.
A kid shows up with some skills and lands himself a sponsor.
He gets a little better and turns pro. Then he has a video part—maybe two—where he peaks out with the best he has to offer.

But as skating continues its relentless march forward, this average pro begins to look like he might be slipping. Caught in the undertow. After the inevitable gimmick attempt in an effort to stay relevant, the downward trend continues until it’s generally agreed that the pro is officially washed up. (But his style is still totally sick, bro!)

Finally, nobody cares to see him skate anymore, so he quits to do something else and people forget he ever existed. Harsh but true.
